Ubisoft is set to unveil its long-awaited remake of the iconic pirate adventure this week.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will be revealed during a dedicated live stream on Thursday, April 23, at 6 PM CEST / 9 AM PDT.
End of Speculation
After months of rumors, Ubisoft confirmed the project’s existence last month with an official reveal image. Franchise boss Jean Guesdon addressed the growing excitement with a playful message:
“Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new, but it’s worth repeating: ‘Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.’ Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.”
About the Original Game
Originally released in 2013, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is set in the West Indies during the Golden Age of Piracy (1715–1722). The story follows Welsh pirate Edward Kenway, grandfather of Assassin’s Creed III protagonist Connor, as he pursues fortune and adventure on the high seas.
New Leadership for the Franchise
Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced the future leadership team for the Assassin’s Creed series. The franchise will now be guided by key veterans from the original Black Flag at Vantage Studios, Ubisoft’s newly launched subsidiary partly funded by Tencent.
The leadership trio includes:
- Martin Schelling
- Jean Guesdon
- François de Billy
Guesdon served as creative director on both Assassin’s Creed Origins and Black Flag, while Schelling and de Billy worked as producers on the pirate title.
