Capcom has unleashed a stunning new look at Resident Evil: Requiem, specifically highlighting the title’s technical partnership with Nvidia. While the trailer was designed to flex the power of Path Tracing on modern GPUs, eagle-eyed fans have spotted significant clues regarding the game’s scale and setting.
The footage provides our best look yet at Wrenwood, the fictional city rumored to serve as the game’s primary backdrop. Unlike the claustrophobic corridors of previous entries, these urban environments suggest a shift toward the “big open levels” recently hinted at by industry insider Dusk Golem.
One of the most discussed segments of the trailer involves Leon S. Kennedy. Following the official reveal that Leon will return as a dual protagonist alongside new character Grace, Capcom is leaning heavily into his “action hero” persona.
The trailer features Leon’s custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, fueling speculation that the vehicle is more than just a cinematic prop. With the move toward larger, open-ended maps, fans are questioning if Resident Evil Requiem will introduce actual driving mechanics to navigate the infested streets of Wrenwood.
A Tale of Two Genres: Horror vs. Action
Director Akifumi Nakanishi recently clarified the game’s structure during a December media event. According to Nakanishi, the campaign is split nearly 50/50 between the two leads, offering two distinct gameplay styles:
- Grace: Focuses on traditional, psychological survival horror.
- Leon: Delivers “intense, adrenaline-pumping action.”
This dual-narrative approach aims to satisfy both the purists seeking scares and those who enjoyed the high-octane combat of Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil: Requiem is shaping up to be the most technologically ambitious entry in the franchise to date. PC players with Nvidia RTX cards can expect industry-leading reflections and lighting, while console players will see the series debut on next-gen hardware.
Resident Evil: Requiem will release on February 27th, 2026 on platforms – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
