The upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Saros has officially been pushed back. Originally targeting a March launch, the latest title from the studio behind Returnal is now scheduled for release on April 20, 2026.
The announcement was made alongside the debut of a brand-new story trailer at The Game Awards, offering fans a deeper look into the sci-fi world just months after the first gameplay footage premiered this past summer.
Pre-Order Bonuses and Digital Deluxe Edition

Sony has detailed several incentives for early adopters. Players who commit to pre-ordering either the standard or Digital Deluxe versions of Saros will instantly unlock the “Hands of Shore Armour.”
However, the Digital Deluxe Edition offers the most robust package, including 48-hour early access to the game. Furthermore, this edition pays homage to PlayStation’s history with exclusive “PlayStation Studios celebration suits” for the main character, Arjun.
These cosmetic items allow Arjun to don ASTRA suits inspired by iconic franchises, including Returnal, God of War, and recently released – Ghost of Yotei.
Regarding the crossover content, the team expressed their excitement:
“Playing as Arjun with an ASTRA suit is awesome, and as a huge fan of Sony Santa Monica and Sucker Punch Productions, it’s an honour to have their worlds merged with ours for Digital Deluxe players.”
A Haunting New World on Carcosa

First revealed with a cinematic teaser in February, Saros is positioning itself as a narrative-heavy action title. The game features Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher) in the lead role of Arjun Devraj.
Director Gregory Louden provided insight into the game’s setting and the protagonist’s motivation during the initial reveal:
“Saros is an action game with the haunting story of a lost off-world colony on Carcosa under an ominous eclipse. You play as Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer who will stop at nothing to find who he is looking for. Our goal is to create an emotional and powerful character study that explores the cost it takes to create a new future.”
Louden also praised Kohli’s contribution to the project:
“Arjun is performed by Rahul Kohli. Rahul is truly bringing Arjun to life in a stunning performance. He has been a brilliant collaborator to tell our story and champion for the game.”
Gameplay Mechanics: A Shape-Shifting Planet
Writing on the official PlayStation Blog, creative director Gregory Louden elaborated on the unique mechanics that define the Saros experience. The game appears to integrate rogue-like elements where the environment reacts to player failure.
“The events of Saros take place on Carcosa, a shape-shifting, hostile alien planet – one that changes on every death, and offers a wide variety of environments and enemies for you to encounter,” Louden wrote.
He further described the atmosphere players can expect when exploring the world:
“The stunning environment Arjun explores is that of a lost ancient civilization fueled by the twisted enlightenment of the eclipse.”
With the new date set, fans can look forward to exploring the shifting mysteries of Carcosa when Saros arrives on PS5 this coming April.
