The Following Review contains spoilers for story mode.
You’ve been warned!

Another year, another new game, just like new F1 Season where we’re used to hearing – “It’s lights out and away we go!” The new F1 25 brings in numerous changes over the previous game, we see the return of Braking Point – a story mode, the usual career mode, a tie-up with the F1 Movie – where you get to play few scenes as chapters; and for the first time, you get to drive around on 3 tracks in reverse.

Codemasters with F1 24 introduced new physics model focusing on ‘Dynamic Handling’ to provide a more realistic experience. At launch, it received mixed reviews, but after multiple updates, the gameplay became much more enjoyable. The latest installment brings new models and updated handling, making it a joy to drive on the tracks. Along with that, the AI has been improved as well to On top of that, Codemasters has moved on from previous-gen consoles, enabling significantly improved and highly realistic graphics that look truly impeccable.

Moving on, we’ve got the return of Braking Point 3 story mode. This was first introduced in 2021 with the F1 21 game. This year’s Braking Point, we’ve got 15 Chapters that continues the racing story with drama on and off-track. In certain chapters, you can choose to play as either Callie Mayer or Aiden Jackson. Whichever character you choose, there’s a different outcome in the story.

F1 25 - Konnersports

So, anyway, the 2024 season sees the Konnersport bought by Butler Global after founder Andreo Konner sells it  with retired driver Casper Akkerman as team principal and Devon Butler as liaison, managing drivers Aiden Jackson and Callie Mayer in a title fight against Red Bull. Mid-season drama unfolds as Davidoff Butler dies, leaving Devon ownership of Butler Global and Konnersport, leading to tension, crashes, and Devon sacking Casper.

Red Bull wins 2024, but in 2025 Konnersport fights back, with Callie under threat of being replaced before Devon relents. Personal revelations about Davidoff’s support for Callie heal old wounds, and Devon later swaps roles with Andreo to become team principal. In the Abu Dhabi finale, after Verstappen and Leclerc clash, either Aiden or Callie clinches the Drivers’ Championship, Konnersport secures the Constructors’ title, and Casper moves on to family life as the team celebrates their triumph.

After that, there’s the Career Mode that functions the same as last year’s game, set goals for yourself and ranking and if you fail to achieve them, your contract with the team will in danger. However, this year, The fan-favourite career mode, My Team, has seen major improvements like instead of juggling both ownership and driving duties, you’ll remain in your role as the team boss while competing as one of your two contracted drivers, a change that feels far more logical than before.

Research and development have also been reworked, requiring you to assign upgrades directly to specific drivers. Combined with other smart refinements, these changes make the new My Team 2.0 feel more authentic and true to real-world F1 team management.

F1 25 - Mercedes in Miami

Online gameplay remains largely unchanged, but now includes a new Challenge Career Mode, where you play timed scenarios offline and upload it to leaderboards once online. Players will also get access to special scenarios from the upcoming F1 movie, which will be available as episodes after the film’s launch, allowing you to step into the Formula One Car as Brad Pitt for the APXGP.

Lastly, we finally get the one thing that everyone’s been asking for – Reversed tracks. Well, you get only 3 Tracks in reverse – Silverstone, Austria, and the Netherlands. The track’s has been remodelled to accommodate the pit lane, DRS Zones, and the Sector Zones. Driving in reverse feels so weird and amazingly awesome. I love it! Wish more tracks were available, I would love to drive in reverse In Monaco, imagine the chaos!

Overall, the game delivers a noticeable leap in visuals and car handling, capturing the authenticity of the current generation of F1 machines at their peak, especially with this being the final season of ground-effect cars before new regulations come next year. Considering the significant changes coming next year, this game offers a unique experience you won’t get again – making it a strong contender for your collection, though the final choice is yours.
