Even after nearly 7 years since its release, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still hailed as one of the most visually stunning and narratively rich games in the industry. Its immersive open world with extreme realism and attention-to-detail makes it an all-time favourite. Even though it’s a modern release, there’s already talk of a possible remake or remaster, and the speculation isn’t baseless – it’s coming straight from the game’s lead actor.
Roger Clark, who portrayed Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, recently told TheGamer,
“I think it’s already starting to happen. What’s also starting to happen is that classic games, games that did well, and games that still are able to hold on to their fandom are getting remastered now more than ever before. So, I don’t know, the data isn’t going anywhere, but the technology to refine its graphics is only just going to keep getting better and better.”

Rockstar Games has a history of re-releasing its best titles, with GTA 5 leading the way across multiple console generations – PS3, PS4, and the Enhanced version for PS5 – Even the original Red Dead Redemption recently saw a re-release on modern platforms, while the infamous GTA Trilogy remaster, despite bugs, proved the company’s continued focus on updating legacy titles.
Clark further emphasized the potential by stating,
“I don’t think a remake of Red Dead Redemption 2 is something that we can write off for the future, or a remaster. We’ve already started to see it for GTA 5 and the original Red Dead Redemption. So, I think possibly it’ll remain in the limelight with modern versions of the same game, because the stories are what keeps the players coming back.”
Interestingly, Red Dead Redemption 2 is yet to receive a native current-gen upgrade for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, yet its visuals still outperform many modern games. A potential next-gen patch or full remaster could push the game even further, bringing it up to speed with newer technologies while preserving the iconic narrative that players continue to revisit.
With Rockstar’s track record and Clark’s insights, the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster or remake is far from unlikely – especially as fan demand remains strong and remastered classics continue to dominate sales charts.

What is Red Dead Redemption 2 Story about?
For those that haven’t played the game yet (why haven’t you?), the story begins in 1899, when the gang escape Blackwater after a failed robbery, the gang flees with lawmen and Pinkertons on their trail. Led by Dutch, the gang tries to earn enough money to escape the crumbling outlaw life.
They rob trains, work for feuding families, and clash with industrialists and law enforcement. Internal tensions rise as Dutch becomes increasingly unstable, influenced by Micah, and abandons old values. Arthur Morgan, the gang’s enforcer, is diagnosed with tuberculosis in later part of story, and begins to question the gang’s direction.
As he gets betrayed by gand, Arthur tries to save John Marston and his family. Depending on player choice, Arthur dies either peacefully or at Micah’s hand. In the epilogue, John builds a new life with his family but ultimately hunts down Micah with Dutch’s help, reclaiming the gang’s money and ending their violent chapter—setting up the events of Red Dead Redemption.
