Red Dead Redemption 2 might be launching on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, alongside an upgraded version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
This information comes from reports by Gamereactor, which claims sources close to Rockstar have confirmed the development of RDR2 for Nintendo’s upcoming console. Another source, Nintendúo, has also stated that the game is set to arrive on the Switch 2.
According to these reports, the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch 2 could coincide with an enhanced version for current-gen platforms, delivering improved graphics and performance for PS5 and Xbox Series X players.

Originally launched on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 later made its way to PC in November 2019, earning widespread acclaim for its open-world gameplay and immersive storytelling.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently spoke to The Game Business, discussing the company’s approach to Nintendo Switch 2. “We’re offering more on launch support than ever before for a Nintendo platform,” Zelnick emphasized. Take-Two’s planned titles for Switch 2 this year include Civilization VII, Borderlands 4, WWE 2K, and NBA 2K.
When asked about the challenge third-party games face on Nintendo platforms, Zelnick acknowledged the historical trend but expressed optimism for the future. “Historically, Nintendo has done a better and more supportive job with first-party titles. But I think they are aiming to change that.”

Take-Two’s commitment to the Switch 2 suggests strong confidence in the platform, with Zelnick highlighting that “Nintendo has asked us to be supportive, and we do believe we’re doing that.”
If these reports hold true, fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 can look forward to exploring the Wild West on Nintendo Switch 2 and enjoying enhanced visuals and performance on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles later this year.
