PlayStation has officially confirmed the Borderlands 4 State of Play broadcast is happening this week, offering fans their first in-depth look at the highly anticipated RPG shooter.
The special presentation will air live on April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST, streaming on PlayStation’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
This standalone State of Play will deliver exclusive gameplay footage, deep story insights, and development commentary from the Gearbox team.
Creative director Graeme Timmins teased the reveal in the announcement:
“Get ready for a deep dive on Borderlands 4. During this special State of Play, I’ll be joined by other members of the Gearbox team to share the nitty-gritty details of how you’ll wreak havoc across Kairos and take down the Timekeeper.”
The announcement comes shortly after Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford revealed that Borderlands 4’s release date has been moved up from September 23 to September 12. The decision reflects the studio’s confidence in the game’s progress and polish.
A statement posted on the official Borderlands X (Twitter) account read:
“It has been incredible seeing the response as we move ever closer to the release. Our team has thrown themselves headfirst into making this the greatest Borderlands yet – both for new and returning Vault Hunters.
You’ll be able to crash into Kairos two weeks sooner. We’re beyond excited to share the new world with all of you ahead of schedule.”
Alongside the confirmed release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, it was also recently announced that Borderlands 4 will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year — expanding the game’s reach across all major platforms.
With the upcoming State of Play presentation and the earlier release date, Borderlands 4 is gaining serious momentum ahead of launch.
