The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now officially available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, including Xbox Game Pass. This remastered edition of Bethesda’s 2006 Game of the Year has been completely rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, boasting significant upgrade in visuals, audio, and overall gameplay experience.
Developers describe it as a full modernisation of the classic RPG; the remaster delivers dramatic visual improvements while staying true to the original’s core.
“The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernises the 2006 Game of the Year with all-new stunning visuals and refined gameplay,” reads the game’s official description. Developer Virtuos has confirmed that “every single asset in the game was recreated from scratch,” ensuring a completely fresh visual presentation for both returning fans and new players.
The remastered version also introduces reanimated lip syncing using the original performance capture data, adding a new level of realism to character interactions. The character movement system has been entirely rebuilt, now including a sprint feature inspired by later Elder Scrolls titles like Skyrim. Additionally, the game’s leveling system has been revamped, blending elements from both Oblivion and Skyrim to offer a more balanced and engaging progression experience. New dialogue lines have been recorded, and for the first time, each race features distinct voice acting, further enhancing immersion.
All previously released DLC and expansions are bundled with this remaster, offering the complete Oblivion experience in a single package. Players can revisit the vast world of Cyrodiil with modern-day enhancements, reliving one of the most iconic RPG adventures ever created.
“Explore the vast landscape of Cyrodiil like never before and stop the forces of Oblivion from overtaking the land in one of the greatest RPGs ever from the award-winning Bethesda Game Studios.”
In addition to the standard version, a Deluxe Edition is also available. This premium version includes exclusive bonuses such as additional weapons and horse armor—a playful nod to the infamous horse armor DLC from the original release, which became a long-standing meme in the gaming community.
