Assassin’s Creed Shadows has emerged as a major commercial success, ranking as the second-best-selling game of 2025 in the US, according to data from Circana. It trails only behind Monster Hunter Wilds in year-to-date sales.
Despite facing a lengthy development cycle and multiple delays, the title has resonated strongly with players. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows dominated US sales charts for three consecutive weeks following its launch.
In the UK, the game also saw impressive performance—selling more physical copies in a single week than Ubisoft’s Star Wars: Outlaws did in three months.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows now holds the record for the biggest physical game launch of 2025, surpassing even Monster Hunter Wilds. Industry sources also revealed to VGC that this is the second-largest launch in Assassin’s Creed franchise history.
Launched across PC and consoles, Shadows is Ubisoft’s first major release to debut on Steam since 2019, marking a strategic shift back to the platform after years of exclusivity to Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store.
With strong reviews, renewed player interest, and record-breaking sales figures, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has become a standout success for Ubisoft in 2025.
