Housemarque has officially announced Saros, its next game following the success of Returnal. The game stars Rahul Kohli and continues the studio’s focus on sci-fi action, though it is not directly connected to Returnal in terms of story.

A Haunting Story on Carcosa

Saros takes place on a lost off-world colony on Carcosa, where an ominous eclipse looms over the planet. Players take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer, who is on a relentless mission to find someone important to him.

Housemarque describes Saros as an emotional and powerful character study that explores the cost it takes to create a new future.

Rahul Kohli, known for his roles in Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher, is bringing Arjun to life with a performance that Housemarque praises as both stunning and deeply immersive. More details about the game’s ensemble cast and story will be revealed later.

Not a Roguelike, But a Persistent Progression System

Unlike Returnal, Saros will not be a traditional roguelike. Instead, the game features permanent resources and progression, meaning that each death will lead to an evolving world.

Players will be able to permanently upgrade their loadout, weapons, and suit enhancements, allowing them to return stronger and overcome new challenges.

First Gameplay Reveal Coming Later This Year

Housemarque has confirmed that the first gameplay footage will be shown later this year, giving players a deeper look at what to expect from this mysterious new adventure.
