Microsoft is reportedly planning to bring Hellblade 2 to PlayStation 5, and it could happen sooner rather than later.
According to Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden, Microsoft has plans to release Ninja Theory’s upcoming title on Sony’s console. In response to PlayStation’s 40-minute State of Play announcement set for Wednesday, Corden hinted at the possibility of Hellblade 2 being revealed for PS5.
“Hellblade 2 time maybe? :)” he wrote on X, later adding, “Not if, ‘when!’ and when is pretty soon from what I’ve been hearing.”
Microsoft’s Expanding Multiplatform Strategy
Microsoft has been increasingly bringing its first-party titles to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, marking a shift in its exclusivity strategy. Recent releases include:
- Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded on PlayStation and Switch
- Doom: The Dark Ages confirmed for PS5
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle set to launch on PS5 this spring
- Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5 later this year
- Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition also heading to PlayStation
Microsoft’s Stance on Xbox Exclusivity
Microsoft’s gaming CEO Phil Spencer has stated that the company remains open to bringing first-party Xbox games to rival platforms. Matt Booty, president of game content and studios, echoed this sentiment, explaining that exclusivity and release timing decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, balancing production schedules and ensuring a quality experience for Xbox players first.
With Hellblade 2 rumored to be arriving on PS5 soon, Microsoft’s shift toward a more multiplatform approach continues to reshape the gaming landscape.
