A new Xbox Series X/S wireless controller, named the Red Cipher Special Edition, has reportedly leaked ahead of an official reveal expected later this month.
Details from a Reliable Source
Dataminer billbil-kun, known for accurately leaking games and hardware, claims Microsoft is preparing to release another color variation of its standard Xbox Series X/S controller. According to their post on Dealabs, the Red Cipher controller will feature a transparent shell similar to previous entries in the Cipher series.

Expanding the Xbox Cipher Series
If confirmed, the Red Cipher will be the third controller in the Cipher series:
- Sky Cipher: Released last year with a transparent blue shell, showcasing internal components like spinning rumble motors.
- Ghost Cipher: Launched later in the year with a transparent grey shell.
Based on the leak, the Red Cipher controller will adopt the same design philosophy with a bright red transparent shell. The buttons and back of the controller are expected to be in garnet red, mimicking the color distribution of the Sky Cipher model.
Potential Release Details
While the release date for the Red Cipher controller hasn’t been confirmed, an announcement is rumored for this month. The controller will reportedly be priced at $69.99 / £64.99 / €69.99 and could be available exclusively on Microsoft’s official store.
Fans of the Cipher series are eagerly awaiting official confirmation, as the Red Cipher promises to bring another visually striking design to Xbox’s lineup of wireless controllers.
