Developer Hangar 13 and publisher 2K have unveiled the latest trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, introducing Enzo, the game’s protagonist, and offering a glimpse into its gripping storyline. Set to launch in Summer 2025, this entry marks the start of a new chapter in the acclaimed Mafia franchise.
A Journey into Sicily’s Crime Roots
Set in 1900s Sicily, Mafia: The Old Country follows Enzo, a young man who escapes the grueling conditions of sulfur mines only to find a new path in Don Torrisi’s crime family. The game’s narrative delves into the traditions, honor, and sacrifices tied to the Sicilian Mafia during its formative years.
According to 2K, players will navigate a world where stiletto blades and lupara shotguns reign supreme, and violent vendettas shape the island’s criminal landscape. From patrolling protection rackets on foot, horseback, or in early motorcars, the game promises an immersive portrayal of turn-of-the-century organized crime.
Developer Insights
Nick Baynes, President of Hangar 13, shared his vision for the game:
“Mafia: The Old Country is a love letter to old-style, gritty Mafia stories. Our team is commited to creating the most authentic and intense story of the franchise, and we can’t wait for players to experience the journey with Enzo.”
Reviving the Franchise
This installment is the first brand-new Mafia game since 2016’s Mafia 3. While remastered editions of Mafia and Mafia 2 were released in 2020, The Old Country aims to breathe fresh life into the series by exploring the origins of organized crime with a historically rich and character-driven narrative.
