Hideki Kamiya, renowned game designer and co-creator of iconic titles, has unveiled his next venture alongside his new studio, Clovers Studio. The announcement also includes an exciting collaboration with Capcom to develop a sequel to the beloved game, Okami.
The studio’s name, Clovers Studio, carries significant weight for fans of Kamiya’s past work. Notably, it shares similarities with Clover Studio, a Capcom-backed entity from 2004 responsible for acclaimed games like Viewtiful Joe, God Hand, and the original Okami. Despite its critical successes, Clover Studio was disbanded after a short tenure.
Several members of Clover Studio, including Kamiya, later joined forces to establish PlatinumGames in 2007. The studio became synonymous with blockbuster titles such as Bayonetta, Nier: Automata, Vanquish, and Astral Chain.
Kamiya departed from PlatinumGames in October 2023, stating that the decision was deeply personal and aligned with his creative aspirations. With Clovers Studio now in the spotlight, fans can anticipate a fresh chapter in Kamiya’s illustrious career, starting with the much-awaited Okami sequel.
