It Takes Two Studio Hazelight teasing new game

Hazelight Studios, the creators behind It Takes Two, are hinting at their next big project under the EA Originals label. The announcement came through creative director Josef Fares on X (formerly Twitter), who teased:

“Getting a lot of questions about the next game. Here is a tease. It is a BRAND NEW IP called S*** *****N. Can’t wait to show it soon.”

This post was followed by the official Hazelight account sharing a redacted image of a script. While many details were hidden, the word “co-op” was visible at the top, suggesting Hazelight will continue its signature gameplay style focused on two-player cooperation.

The announcement comes just after the studio revealed that It Takes Two has crossed the milestone of 20 million copies sold.

New Co-Op Game Announcement Could Coincide with Hazelight’s 10th Anniversary

Hazelight hinted earlier this year that their next game might be revealed before 2024 ends. The studio, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in November, announced on X that they will soon highlight past achievements while also teasing “new (real good) stuff.”

Known for developing immersive co-op experiences, Hazelight’s previous titles—It Takes Two and A Way Out—require two players to complete the game, with no single-player mode available.

In an earlier 2022 interview with VGC, Josef Fares mentioned the next game was progressing well but remained a surprise:
“It’s definitely going in the right direction. And it’ll be something really f**ing cool.”*

Hazelight fans can expect more exciting news soon, with the potential game reveal aligning with the studio’s decade-long milestone.

Stay tuned for updates on Hazelight’s upcoming project under EA Originals, as the studio looks to replicate or even surpass the success of It Takes Two.
