Game Science is reportedly preparing to release downloadable content (DLC) for Black Myth: Wukong in early 2025. According to Daniel Camilo, a well-known China-based journalist and gaming industry consultant, the expansion is expected to coincide with the Chinese New Year, starting January 29, 2025. Camilo cited “very reliable first-hand sources” indicating the DLC launch will likely happen in late January or shortly after.

However, Camilo emphasized that release dates in the gaming industry can shift, noting that while teams have internal timelines, they’re often subject to change.

Although Game Science has not officially announced this Black Myth: Wukong DLC, a recent Bloomberg report revealed that the game’s investor, Hero Games, confirmed an expansion is indeed in development.

According to Camilo’s sources, Black Myth: Wukong has already achieved impressive sales, with 20 million copies sold since its release on August 20 for PlayStation 5 and PC. With a development budget of around $70 million, the game has generated over $800 million in revenue, making it one of the fastest-selling titles in history. Daniel Ahmad, Director of Research and Insights at Niko Partners, compared the game’s success to blockbusters like Grand Theft Auto V and Modern Warfare 2.

While an Xbox version of the game was initially delayed due to quality concerns, reports now suggest Sony may have secured an exclusive deal, influencing the timing of the game’s broader release.
