Astro Bot Director Confirms No PlayStation VR2 Version, Teases Possible PC Port!

Nicolas Doucet, the creative director of Astro Bot, has definitively ruled out the possibility of a PlayStation VR2 version for the upcoming game. In a conversation with Ben Hanson on the MinnMax podcast, Doucet was asked about the potential for a VR adaptation of the new Astro Bot platformer. Doucet responded with a clear “No chance,” explaining that the game is designed for a different medium. When further pressed on whether there was a “zero percent” chance of a VR version, Doucet confirmed that if the game were to be adapted for VR, it would essentially be a different game altogether.

However, Doucet did leave the door open for a potential PC port. When asked if he had any message for PC players eager to experience the game, Doucet replied, “Well, we want to hear from you. Absolutely, we want to hear from you,” suggesting that fan interest could influence future decisions.

In the same interview, Doucet was also asked about the number of references that Team Asobi wasn’t allowed to include in the game. While he was hesitant to give an exact figure, when Hanson suggested it could be between five and ten, Doucet agreed that it was “about that much.”

Astro Bot is set to launch on September 6, and alongside the game, an Astro Bot-themed DualSense controller will also be released. Additionally, an Astro Bot-themed gacha machine will make an appearance at PlayStation’s booth at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
