Control Resonant

Remedy Entertainment has officially unveiled the next chapter in their acclaimed paranatural universe. Control Resonant, sequel to the first game was announced during The Game Awards and is confirmed for release in 2026.

The studio is targeting a wide release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store).

Production is being bolstered by a strategic partnership with Annapurna Pictures, which has signed on to co-finance and co-produce the title alongside Remedy.

A New Protagonist and a Distorted Manhattan

Control Resonant

In a significant shift from the first game, Control Resonant will move the spotlight from Jesse Faden to her brother, Dylan. The narrative steps outside the confines of the Oldest House and onto the streets of Manhattan—though not the city as we know it.

Remedy describes this version of New York as an:

“expansive, unfamiliar world as an invading cosmic force reshapes the environment, defiles natural law and distorts gravity, reordering reality into a geophysical nightmare.”

The game promises to blend external exploration with internal psychological struggles. According to the official synopsis:

“Players will traverse perception-bending locations and journey beyond the material world into a mysterious metaphysical space reflecting Dylan Faden’s troubled psyche. Tap into power that Dylan must learn to master and make choices to shape abilities that manifest and grow while exploring a deep progression system.”

Combat and Gameplay Mechanics

The sequel aims to evolve the franchise’s signature telekinetic combat. Players will need to adapt to a shifting world using a new arsenal, including a unique melee weapon. The developers tease that players must:

“Face ever-changing threats head-on, utilizing the environment, unleashing elemental abilities and wielding the raw force Dylan’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant.”

Directed by Mikael Kasurinen

Developer Mikael Kasurinen serves as the game’s director. Having been with Remedy since the early 2000s—with brief tenures at Avalanche Studios and Dice—Kasurinen is steering the franchise toward a larger scope.

“Control Resonant pushes our paranatural action RPG series into an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence,” said Kasurinen.

He also assured fans that while the game is ambitious, it remains accessible to those who missed the original Control:

“You don’t have to know the first game to jump into the sequel; we’ve made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down. We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience. It’s ambitious, a little wild, and we can’t wait for players to get lost in it.”
